EQRS Role Management Changes

EQRS Role Management Changes

November 29, 2023

On November 21,2023, the End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Quality Reporting System (EQRS) Application Development Organization (ADO) released changes to production to modify how role requests are managed for EQRS, with the end goal of reducing reliance on external systems for managing EQRS roles and making the process more maintainable and reliable.

While the steps to request, approve/reject, and remove a role in EQRS remain the same, users will notice a few differences as a result of these changes:

  1. All notifications related to role requests will now be sent to requestors and approvers from: eqrssupport-noreply@cms.hhs.gov.
  2. The request ID that appears on the notification emails for role requests will look different, and in the near term will only be three or four digits long. This is the correct request ID and can be referenced when searching for or referring a role request.
    • If you have a rule set up in your inbox for role request notifications, please update it to work for this new email address.
    • If you are not receiving notifications for role requests when you expect to, please check your junk email/spam/quarantine folders or add the email address above to your safe senders list.
    • For a short time on Wednesday, November 22,2023, users may have received two email notifications for Security Official role requests, one from EQRS, as well as the legacy email notification. The legacy notifications have now been disabled. Please disregard any legacy notifications received on or after November 22, 2023.

In addition to the items above that are expected, the following unexpected items are currently being addressed by the EQRS ADO:

  1. On the new emails the “Role” now appears as a number instead of the role description. This difference will be corrected by the ADO as soon as possible.
  2. Some users are reporting that the requestor’s First and Last Name are no longer displaying on the Pending Approvals page, only the username displays. This difference will be corrected by the ADO as soon as possible.
