NHSN Data Submission Deadline Approaching for Quarter 3 2023 ESRD QIP Data

Outpatient hemodialysis facilities participating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) End-Stage Renal Disease Quality Incentive Program (ESRD QIP) must submit their Quarter 3 2023 National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) data by Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (PT). As best practice, submissions provided earlier than the day of a deadline allows you additional time to ensure data accuracy and make any data adjustments if necessary. Quarter 3 data covers data from July 01, 2023, through September 30, 2023, for the following ESRD QIP measures:
- NHSN Bloodstream Infection (BSI) in Hemodialysis Patients
- NHSN Dialysis Event Reporting
- COVID-19 Vaccination Among Healthcare Personnel (HCP)
At each quarterly reporting deadline, NHSN takes a snapshot of your facility’s data and creates a permanent data file which is used to create the annual CMS ESRD QIP Final Compliance File. New or revised data entered into NHSN after 11:59 p.m. PT on January 2, 2024, will not be reflected in the Quarter 3 permanent data file used for the CMS QIP Final Compliance File.
Dialysis facilities must submit NHSN data by the deadlines listed below. Not submitting the required data by these deadlines puts your facility at risk for an ESRD QIP payment reduction. Please note, that if the last day of the month falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, the deadline will occur on the next federal business day. The remaining NHSN quarterly submission deadlines for 2023 ESRD QIP data are listed below.
